20th Anniversary Reunion Event:
On March 30-31, 2012 fans celebrated the 20th anniversary since the Columbus Chill first dropped the puck for the 1991-92 season at the Ohio Expo Coliseum. More than 500 fans were in attendance.
The four key elements to the weekend were highlighted by the 20th anniversary reunion party at the LC Pavilion in the Arena District. On Friday evening, fans gathered to interact with former players and team personnel. Joe Show of WLVQ was the emcee and the Olde Cellar Band performed. The event included fan contests, special presentations and interviews and a silent auction featuring Chill and NHL team items. Proceeds for the auction benefited Andyman’s children’s charities. Andy Davis, aka “Andyman”, the former CD 101 show host and producer, was The Chill public address announcer from 1994-99. The auction raised more than $4,000.
Earlier in the evening All-Time Chill team members Lance Brady, Jeff Salajko and Rob Schriner were honored by dropping the puck at the Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Florida Panthers game at Nationwide Arena. A video tribute to minor league hockey’s past also was presented.
Saturday morning, Chill players, including current Chiller hockey director Rob Schriner, conducted a basic skills clinic for youth hockey players at Chiller Dublin.
On Saturday evening, Chill alumni participated in an informal scrimmage game against other former collegiate and professional hockey players living in the Columbus area. The event took place at Chiller North.
Reunion organizers include former President & General Manager David Paitson; former Chill front office members Amy Blackmore and Evonne Segall; former Columbus Dispatch reporter Craig Merz; former player Rob Schriner; Chiller general manager Jeremy Rogers and Annie Vian of Vian Communications.
